Born in New Albany Mississippi
Family
was
wealthy
American Civil War caused Faulkner's family to become like many other Southern families at the time
Caused his family to move to Oxford, Mississippi which Faulkner later used as his setting in one of his works
Dropped out of High School
Began to work at a bank and sparked an interest in writing
Styled poems after
Edward FitzGerald, A. E. Housman, John Keats, and Algernon Swinburne and addressed them to Estelle Oldham*
*Married her in 1929
Famous Author
First Book:
The Marble Faun
Didn't have good sales
Important works:
Won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1950
Gave a famous speech I think....
